Fire Safety Act Development

The Chamber was represented at a multi-stakeholder consultation organised by the National Fire Force in collaboration with the Elba Foundation to support the development of a comprehensive Fire Safety Act for Sierra Leone. The engagement brought together representatives from Government agencies, the private sector, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders to contribute to the formulation of a modern legislative framework for fire safety.

The consultation focused on strengthening fire safety legislation, improving emergency preparedness and response systems, and promoting greater public awareness of fire prevention and safety standards. Participants also discussed the need for clear regulatory measures that enhance fire safety compliance across homes, public institutions, and commercial establishments.

The Chamber’s participation reflected its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote a safe and resilient business environment. By contributing to discussions on the proposed legislation, SLCCIA reinforced the importance of robust safety standards in protecting businesses, safeguarding investments, and strengthening national resilience, while continuing to advocate for policies that support sustainable private sector development.
