MiKashBoks, the award-winning digital savings app, with support from the International Labour Organisation (ILO) are delighted to announce a partnership contract, in collaboration with SLeCAD (the Sierra Leone Chamber of Agricultural Development). Representing the Country Director, for Sierra Leone, Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia and ECOWAS Office, Dr. Vanessa Phala, the Chief Technical Advisor of the Opportunity Salone Programme, Tonderai Manoto signed the partnership agreement with the CEO of MikashBoks, Simon Levell in Freetown.
The new partnership will drive the ILO’s priorities in supporting capacity-building among smallholder farmers in Sierra Leone’s agricultural sector value chain of Cassava, Vegetables and Palm oil. MiKashBoks will be digitising approximately 80 community saving groups in rural areas over a period of 9 months, with the goal of enabling access to financial services for the participants.
Members of saving groups will be able to use the MiKashBoks app to save and borrow with their group, build a financial profile and get connected to financial institutions to get loans and other financial products at fair rates. This is made possible with funds from the European Union in Sierra Leone, under its jobs and growth programme.
