Sierra Leone justice dispensing system is under great stress for several reasons, key amongst them being the huge pendency of cases in courts which has underpinned the need for the establishment of the Centre For Alternative Dispute Resolution (CADR).

The Centre For Alternative Dispute Resolution (CADR) is an entity within the Sierra Leone Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture set up to provide a new forum, Rules and procedures for resolving international and domestic commercial disputes quickly.

These rules and procedures have been developed by the Sierra Leone Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture as the rules applicable to the operations of its Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (CADR).

These rules and procedures have been developed in accordance with the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules and shall be revised accordingly as changes in international best practices influence the development of the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules in application.

The CADR comprises of members of several eminent personalities drawn from various fields with expertise in the resolution of commercial disputes and deadlocked negotiations of all shapes and sizes from small claims to disputes valued in billions of various currencies.
