2017 Football & Athletics Competition

This Opening Ceremony brings together Institutions with specific objectives:

  • To Creating employment for Sierra Leoneans,
  • To Forster a business to business relationship,
  • To Provide networking amongst institutions and customers
  • Creating an enabling environment for new business
  • And to help develop football in Sierra Leone.

Opening statements were delivered by the President of the Chamber, Mr. Christopher John Forster and Martin Michael, Managing Director for Mercury International (SL) Ltd.

At the completion of the Athletic sport meet, Prizes were offered to deserving contestants who took part in the following events; Tug of Peace,1500 Management Staff Walking Race(male/female), Institutional Relay,100meters, Skipping Race & 4×200 Walking Race.

Thirteen (13) Institutions took part in the Football Competition-Banks, Insurance Companies, Parastatals and Non-Governmental Organizations. This year final was between Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) and Electricity Generation and Transmission Company (EGTC). The match ended in a one all draw and Standard Chartered Bank won on a penalty shoot-out (9-8).

Trophies and Prizes were delivered by James S. Koroma-Chief Executive Officer and Ronald Kweku Hingston-MD of the National Insurance Company (NIC) and Treasurer of the Chamber.

Chief Executive Officer, James S. Koroma made brief statements on behalf of the President and Council Members of the Chamber before delivering the prizes.
